Mr. Rowland serves as President
and Chief Executive Officer of Rowland Companies Construction
Group, Inc which he founded in 1984. His experience includes
35 years of hands-on management, analysis, and problem solving
in the construction and real estate development industry.
He is an expert in construction and development processes,
cost estimating, risk analysis, interpretation of contract
documents, and management of complex projects. In 22 years
under his direction, Rowland Companies has completed more
than $650 Million in construction contracts. From its offices
in Phoenix/Scottsdale and Dallas/Ft. Worth the firm specializes
in the construction of medical facilities, religious facilities,
and commercial Industrial projects. The firm works throughout
the West, Southwest, Central, and Southeast United States.
Mr. Rowland began working in the construction industry in
1963 as a carpenter apprentice. He served in the US Army Military
Intelligence service, is a Vietnam Veteran and was honorably
discharged in 1971. He married his wife of 33 years, Linda,
while in the military service and their first son James was
born in 1970. Their second son, Todd and daughter Jennifer
followed. James and Jennifer work for Rowland Companies as
Chief Financial Officer and Human Resource Manager, respectively.
Mr. Rowland attended Indiana University at Bloomington where
he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1973 Mr.
Rowland joined the Chicago office of Peat Marwick Mitchell
& Co. where he served on auditing and consulting engagements
in construction, financial and real estate industries while
earning the designation CPA in 1975. Seeking a return to construction,
Mr. Rowland accepted the position of Vice President Finance
and Development with Geupel DeMars, Inc. at Indianapolis in
January 1978. He served in a variety of assignments in financial,
estimating, marketing, and construction operations. He was
responsible for numerous construction assignments across the
United States.
Mr. Rowland and his company have received over three dozen
awards and recognitions ranging from the National Association
of Homebuilders Gold Medal, and eight Pacific Coast Builders
Conference Gold Nugget awards, and two American Subcontractor
Association Awards, to Arizona Valley Forward’s Crescorda
for environmentally sensitive construction.
The Arizona Business Journal quoted Mr. Rowland, saying “What
we choose to do and how we do it can leave a lasting impact
on the lives we touch, professionally and personally”.
And, after completion of the Springs Resort in Frank Lloyd
Wright’s Greene Valley Wisconsin, Madison Magazine said
“When things went sour, Rowland kept his head-and the
project moving.”
